The youth ministry of Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Newark is a community that seeks to be transformed by Christ through teaching, fellowship, and mission.
Teaching: We have weekly teachings based on God’s Word and focused on the Gospel message of the free gift of grace that is offered to us through Christ Jesus.
Fellowship: We are a loving community that recognizes we are all sinful people in need of God’s grace that are working together to grow in our knowledge and love for God. To that end we have frequent activities and times of fellowship for the youth to form genuine relationships with each other.
Mission: We are committed to serving our church, community, and the world through service projects and mission trips.

Sunday School
Sunday School occurs every Sunday at 9:30am in the Family Life Center. We have two separate classes, one for middle school students (6-8th grade), and one for high school students (9-12th grade). Each class is focused on teaching Biblical truth through a book of the Bible, or a relevant Biblical topic, in an engaging and relevant way.
For the Fall 2026 semester we are offering the following classes:
Middle School - “Maturity” by Sinclair Ferguson. Understanding what the Bible says being a Christian looks like and how to practically grow in maturity in following Christ. - Taught by Elder Todd Metzler
High School - “World Religions” - A comparative look at the history, basic beliefs, and problems of major world religions, in contrast to Christianity. - Taught by Rev. Caleb Evans
Youth Group
Youth Group is open to all students between 6th and 12th grade (Middle school-High school) and meets on Sunday nights. Youth group consists of a time of structured games, worship through singing, a Bible lesson, and hang-out time. Feel free to invite friends and others to join us!
We meet most Sunday nights from 5:00-7:00pm and rotate between dinner and small group time! Check our schedule below for details!

FAll Retreat
What: Our Fall Retreat (Reality Factor) is a retreat for all students in 6-12th grade, hosted by Heritage Presbytery. We will be going to Northbay Adventure Camp, in Northeast MD. We will spend the weekend with four worship sessions including singing, and Biblical lessons centered around a theme for the weekend. There will also be plenty of free-time, tournaments (volleyball, basketball, Gaga ball, spikeball, trivia), and activities (craft time, ropes course, zipline, giant swing) that are available.
When: Our Fall Retreat is set for November 6-8 (Friday-Sunday). We will gather and leave from Evangelical Presbyterian Church Friday evening and return to the church on Sunday afternoon.
Registration: Registration is simple and easy! There are only two steps to be fully registered for our Fall Retreat! 1. Click button below or follow the link HERE to register. Note: Parents must be the one completing the registration for their children. 2. Submit payment (see below). Deadline for registration and payment to be received is October 18th! If one is not registered by this time attendance cannot be guaranteed. If one is registered but payment has not been received your reserved slot will be forfeited. Don’t wait, sign up (and pay) today!
Payment: The total cost for a student to attend is $90. This covers everything for the whole weekend and includes a retreat t-shirt as well. Students are also encouraged to bring a little spending cash to give as a love offering for the missionary for the year and to get anything from the snack bar should they desire. To submit payment please write a check, made out to Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and write “Reality Factor - [student name]” in the Memo line. Checks can be handed directly to me or submitted to the church office.
Scholarships: We have had a member of our church make a special donation for this trip to help cover the cost for students to go that might have difficulties paying for the retreat. If you or your student want to come, but cannot for financial reasons, please come talk to me and we can use the donation to cover your expenses. I want everyone to be able to come on this trip!
Packing List: For a complete packing list for the retreat, click HERE. We will again be having a contest for who can pack the most economically. For the male and female student who packs all of the required items in the smallest bag possible (excluding pillow, towel, and bedding), they will receive a $25 gift card of their choosing.
Cell-phone Policy: As is our standard for retreats, students are not permitted to bring cell phones. We want this trip to be a time of refreshment and connection for each student, and cell phones are always a large distraction to that end. For the students to make the most of the weekend we want them to be fully engaged where they are and who they are with. If you have any concerns about this, we can make exceptions as needed, but parents must talk to me beforehand.
