Parenting Through a Temperament Lens: How Understanding Temperament Helps You Understand Your Child

Saturday, February 24, 9:00-11:30am

On Saturday, 2/24, Dr. Kathleen Cherry will be giving a seminar here at Evangelical Presbyterian Church from 9:00-11:30am.  This talk was given to the MOPS ladies this past year and because of the enthusiasm and demand of this topic, by request, Dr. Cherry is giving an expanded talk and discussion on this theme of temperament. This will provide a helpful framework to understand your kids, yourself, and spouse.  This will give encouragement to know how/when to adjust expectations and situations, thinking about ways to scaffold and support in the moment, and also continue to put our kids in situations that stretch them slightly out of their comfort zone and “nudge” them in practice using skills to help them be more successful in a variety of situations.  Just like we proactively teach and also practice other skills with our kids, we should do so with skills to manage their temperament. This is for all parents or those who hope to be parents in the future.  Parents of all ages will find this information helpful, whether young children or through the teen years. There will be discussion, time to ask questions, and time to learn for all of us to grow as parents!

Childcare is provided (EP teens helping).  Breakfast foods will be available for those attending and provided for the children in childcare.  Please register for this event here.
